Antiseismic steel construction

Class A+ energy efficient buildings

Steel, one of the most popular building materials in the world, has long been used in large-scale construction projects due to its resiliency and strength. Today, steel has also become a popular solution for building homes and small-scale commercial buildings.

Bring the benefits of steel to your next building project with SteelHouse, the latest in antiseismic steel structure technology.

Steel construction is:

  • Cost effective. Steel construction costs approximately 15 to 20 percent less than building with more dated, traditional methods such as concrete, brick and rigid marble dust plaster.
  • Fast. In the traditional poured cement form method of construction, which is widely utilized in Greece, the need to cure cement in between stages of construction adds months of time to the entire building process. Because steel construction does not use any concrete beyond the foundation of the building, a steel structure takes approximately one third of the time to complete.
  • Energy saving. The energy needed to heat or cool a SteelHouse structure is up to four times less than structures built with insulation sandwiched between two layers of brick—a common building practice in Greece.
  • High durability and low maintenance. Applying an exterior insulation and finishing system (EIFS) on the outside of the building creates a virtually impenetrable barrier, ensuring that water, humidity and other external elements are kept from penetrating the completed structure. This means less repainting of interior and exterior walls and protection against unhealthy elements, such as mold, from entering the home. EIFS can also be added to an existing structure.
  • Precise and aesthetically pleasing construction. Building with steel allows for the design of large living spaces, featuring perfectly straight walls and plumb vertical surfaces. Utilities (i.e., electric and plumbing) are hidden within the drywall where they belong. This building method also allows for quick and easy additions to the structure in the future.
  • Environmentally friendly. The SteelHouse building process leaves a smaller carbon footprint than traditional construction methods because the materials used require far less energy to manufacture and transport. Steel is also the most recycled material in the world, and the additional materials and products used to complete a Steel House building are also easily recyclable.

Building with lightweight galvanized steel offers countless benefits nearly impossible to achieve with more traditional methods of construction. Applications for steel construction include new buildings as well additions or renovations to existing structures and can be completed to the specific architectural specifications of the client.

About antiseismic steel structure and safety

Steel has been strongly recommended for earthquake affected areas. Galvanized steel is lightweight and this means less movement of the mass of the building during a seismic event. Each steel structure is guaranteed and built according to Greek and European guidelines.
